Why I write about the intersection of health and travel . . .
After nearly 10 years of freelancing for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), I had a solid foundation for my next venture: writing for hospitals and major medical centers. I enjoy the challenge of translating high-level information from research and expert interviews into consumer-friendly communications. One day, a hospital client sparked my interest in the intersection of health and travel. I still remember the phone call: Could I complete a grant proposal requesting $500,000 to launch a medical tourism program? Oh, and, could I get it done in two weeks? Answer: Yes. Result: Success! Meanwhile, I also started building my travel writing portfolio, covering the people and places that make destinations special. Combined with my interest in healthy living and belief that travel is essential to a well-rounded lifestyle, I continue to explore a range of wellness travel topics.
